Artist spotlight on....

Susan Fox Hirschmann

In her Northern Virginia Studio, the Susan Fox Hirschmann creates her clay design, each beginning on the potter's wheel. Airbrushed and hand painted glazes, dyed reeds as well as handmade paper, metal, wool and bamboo, complete many of her pieces.

She uses the finest stoneware and porcelain clay, firing each piece twice to 2300'. She then dyes the reeds, sculpts the paper and creates each one-of-a-kind design, with variations in color, size and fiber.

Her many travels, including beaches of the world, and the color and rhythm of the sea are grand inspirations for her designs. Her current focus is on designing, creating and teaching her craft.
