Artist spotlight on....
Stillwater Art & Design
by Pat Pyott
Porcelain is the perfect medium to set off the delicate images cast from actual leaves and plants (collected personally by the artist) while hiking hte mountains of New England. She experimented with clays, molds, and techniques for three years until creating an image that speaks for itself. The resolution is so true that people wonder if the leaves, etc. were actually fired into the clay. All pieces are completely unique; sculpted, hand-cut and molded one at a time. Painted underglaze is applied to each piece while holding the piece in hand, contemplating every brush stroke. Shiny glass glazes are then applied for the protective finish, while retaining the intricate features. All pieces are microwavable and dishwasher safe.
