Artist spotlight on....
Jewelry
by Mary Martin Studio
Where most people would see refuse, Mary Martin sees art. She takes recycled industrial glass and turns it into one-of-a-kind jewelry. Her craft combines old Venetian glass cane methodology with contemporary fused glass techniques. The resulting alchemy produces cabochons that look like rocks or semi-precious stones or fanciful substances of Mary¹s imagination.
Everything is set off by fine silver.
This art and literature graduate of Goddard College (and now the mother of twin boys) discovered her love of jewelry making while working as a baker for a small cafe in Vermont. A Calilfornia sojourn resulted in a successful business with clients ranging from Nieman Marcus and Bloomingdales, to museum shops and craft galleries.
Currently East Cast based, Mary Martin continues to refine and develop her work. She now uses not only recycled glass but fused glass of her own fabrication. Each piece of jewelry is truly one-of-a-kind.
