Driftwood Carvings
by Brent Freed of
Indian River Woodshop
Born in northern Michigan and raised in central Texas, nature's beauty has always been an inspiration to Brent. After serving in the Air Force and Desert Storm, he moved back to Michigan to help his father build rustic furniture. During one of his many canoe trips, the idea of Free Formed Art was born. It is on these hunts that his creative eye sees things others might not. Old red and white cedar stumps and driftwood are taken back to the shop where intuition takes over. With strokes of the saw and turns of the sander; nature's left-overs are given new life in the form of ducks, swans, eagles, falcons and fish. |
